Description

Foruminvest worked closely with The Hague, Pijnacker-Nootdorp and Rijswijk city councils to build a high-grade and pleasant residential area: the new-build Ypenburg neighbourhood. This neighbourhood offers space, green areas, safety and an outstanding range of amenities. Foruminvest and Rabo Vastgoed developed the centre for the Ypenburg neighbourhood, with 11,500 m2 of retail space, 475 homes and 950 parking places. The shopping centre has 42 shops, including two supermarkets, a full range of grocery stores, travel agents, a temping agency, drugstore and perfumery, a toy shop, and optician, banks, fashion outlets and restaurants. It also offers a number of social amenities, such as a library, a children’s day-care centre, a medical centre, a police station and a sports centre. These amenities are all easy to reach by car via the A4, A12 and A13 motorways. Plus, there is a wide range of public transport options, giving Ypenburg good connections to all the surrounding cities.
The large scale of the blocks and high rises is in sharp contrast to the closed nature of the shopping centre. The developers devoted extra attention to the light plan, the advertising elements and the lay-out of the public areas. These special elements make the shopping centre a lively and sheltered meeting place for local residents.
